DHBVN launches additional charge waiver program for electricity consumers
The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has launched a surcharge waiver program for all consumers whose electrical connections were interrupted after June 30 for non-payment of contributions.
The DHBVN will forgo the full surcharge on the unpaid bill if consumers pay the principal amount as a lump sum, a spokesperson for the power company said.
Haryana Energy Minister Ranjit Singh said on Friday that the program would be available until November 30.
“The first and second waves of Covid 19 have hit both people and the economy hard. DHBVN will waive the entire unpaid invoice surcharge when paying the principal amount in a lump sum, ”Singh said.
Meanwhile, DHBVN said that the consumer can also benefit from this program by depositing only 25% of the initial amount and paying the balance in six installments. This way, all surcharges up to June 30 will be forfeited when depositing the full principal amount.
The order issued by DHBVN stated: “The reconnection will be carried out against payment of 25% of the principal outstanding. “
In rural areas, panchayats who have agreed to the implementation of the Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon Yojana and even the inhabitants of these villages, where the Yojana has been launched, will be able to benefit from the surcharge exemption program.
However, consumers whose cases are pending in court cannot avail themselves of the scheme. The minister said the regime would only be applicable after the court cases were withdrawn.
A DHBVN official at Gurugran said information about the surcharge waiver program is available on the website.
